The Manager, EVM Workforce & Training is a dual-focus leadership role responsible for preparing the Event & Venue Management (EVM) Games-time workforce. This role manages two critical pillars: Workforce Planning & Strategy and Operational Training Development. The manager will oversee recruitment for critical EVM leadership positions, develop the EVM Workforce Plan, and design and execute comprehensive training curricula for staff, contractors, and volunteers. This position reports to the Vice President, Event & Venue Management and is based in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Hiring Strategy: Oversee and scale the end-to-end recruitment process for critical EVM leadership positions, including Event General Managers, Common Domain Managers, Back of House Managers, and the teams working in the Event Coordination Center and the Venue Operations Center.
  • Lead the development of the EVM Workforce Plan, including staffing models, role profiles, and deployment strategies across venue clusters.
  • Collaborate with Workforce and Venue Management teams to define Games-time staffing ratios, schedules, and requirements.
  • Support recruitment planning for both paid staff and volunteers.
  • Drive workforce integration within EVM aligned with Games-time venue hierarchies.
  • End-to-End Training Pathways: Author and manage the design, development, and maintenance of all training materials for EVM teams, focusing on professional development, Role-Specific Training, and Venue Training.
  • Content Creation: Design engaging learning content, including presentations, interactive exercises, self-guided manuals, train-the-trainer modules, and Just in Time Training - tailored to both paid staff and volunteers.
  • Facilitation & Training Delivery: Lead high-impact training workshops and briefings, preparing EVM leaders to train their respective teams.
  • Venue Training Coordination: Collaborate with Functional Areas and EGMs to support their delivery of localized, venue training and orientation tours.
  • Manage workforce communications and briefing processes.
  • Oversee on-site training and support for venue EVM leaders during Games-time.
  • Serve as EVM’s main liaison with Workforce, Learning & Development, and Volunteer Management.
  • Partner with Event Visitor Services, Security, and Transport for coordinated operations.
  • Support EVM milestones across Event Operations Planning (EOP) phases.Track KPIs to report on EVM workforce progress (across recruitment, on-boarding, professional development, testing exercises, and training), utilizing management dashboards to report readiness status to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in, Workforce Planning, or Training Management within a major sports & entertainment venue or a multi-event organizing committee.
  • Workforce Data: data management skills in Excel and other tools to support tracking and reporting.
  • Instructional Design: Demonstrated success in developing, writing, and delivering multi-tiered training programs (professional, operational, and venue-specific).
  • Presentation & Facilitation: Exceptional public speaking, coaching, and storytelling skills, with the ability to confidently present to audiences of all sizes.
  • Technical Tools: Confidence working Learning Management Systems (LMS), and standard office productivity suites.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Sport Management, Instructional Design, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Event Background: Prior experience working within a sports organizing committee (e.g., Olympic/Paralympic Games, FIFA World Cup, or similar scale) is highly desirable.
  • Operational Familiarity: Direct experience working in or supporting active venue operations or event-day staffing plans.
